WATCH | Surveillance video captured an inmate in a Florida jail attempting to strangle a detention deputy with a towel.
Video obtained by CNN shows an inmate at the Falkenburg Road Jail attacking a detention deputy, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
The video shows inmate Kiondre Zachary sneak up behind Deputy Daniel Hernandez and loop what looks to be a twisted towel around his neck. Hernandez managed to break free by spinning out of Zachary’s grip and throwing him to the ground.
During the scuffle Hernandez twisted his ankle, bruised his knee and received a few towel burns around his neck.
The two were surrounded by 72 other inmates when it happened. Deputy Hernandez managed to escape from Zachery's grasp. Hernandez, other inmates and eventually, other deputies took Zachary down and subdued him.
Zachary’s charge of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer was added to his current sentence.
