'Game of Thrones' actor Neil Fingleton, who played Mag the Mighty, has died at 36


Neil Fingleton, the actor who played the giant Mag the Mighty in "Game of Thrones" has died at 36. 

The Tall Persons Club said seven-foot, seven-inch Fingleton died Saturday, likely from heart failure. 

Fingleton was recognized as the U.K.'s tallest man in 2007 by Guinness World Records. He told the Guinness website in 2006 that he's "always been taller than everyone." 

Fingleton played basketball in the U.S. for the University of North Carolina and the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. 

He went on to pursue a short-lived career as a professional basketball player before shifting his focus to acting. 

Fingleton appeared in the films "47 Ronin" and “X-Men: First Class," as well as the TV show "Doctor Who." 

Many fans of his role in "Game of Thrones" posted tributes on social media.
