Say goodbye to the days of unseasonably warm weather. Severe storms are expected to plow their way through the Washington, D.C. area, affiliate WJLA reported. The National Weather Service has also issued tornado warnings in York and Lancaster counties in Pennsylvania, according to Local 21 News., but later rescinded both of them.

Damaging wind gusts and small hail are the likely threats in the DMV area, but a weak tornado cannot be ruled out, StormWatch7 said.

Sizable hail struck Stafford county in Virginia.

Virginia's state capital, Richmond, also saw heavy hail.

Just about one year to the day, a tornado touched down in Lancaster county, which was the second time in 1950 that a tornado hit Pennsylvania in February. About 50 buildings sustained damage in the storm.

Ominous clouds in Lancaster formed on Saturday, but a tornado never materialized.
