As multiple airlines look to offer 'no frills' experiences to passengers, one of America's largest aviation companies announced the introduction of free main cabin meals in select markets. The complimentary meals will be available on some of its longest domestic flights, including routes between New York JFK's and Los Angeles/San Francisco, according to a Thursday statement.
By doing so, Delta will become the only US carrier to offer free meals for all passengers. The service will launch March 1.
And for those who don't travel between New York and Los Angeles, Delta will expand the service to 10 other major domestic markets, such as from Boston to San Francisco, Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles, and New York to Portland.

With Delta's new meal program, passengers will be able to enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A few options include a Honey Maple Breakfast Sandwich, a fruit and cheese plate, a mesquite-smoked turkey combo, and a Luvo Mediterranean whole grain veggie wrap.
The initiative comes after a successful market test, said Allison Ausband, Delta's senior vice president of in-flight service.
The meal service is one of several revised company investments. Delta previously upgraded its main cabin snacks and in-flight entertainment.
