The BBC told listeners Santa wasn't real this morning. This backfired.

A BBC radio host said during a Thursday morning show that Santa (better known as Father Christmas across the pond) wasn't real.

This quickly sparked a backlash on social media, forcing that host, Nick Robinson, to apologize and call the reports "fake news."

Listeners were outraged.

Robinson apologized and called his own words "fake news."
