Two years after his piercing blue eyes captivated the nation, "hot convict" Jeremy Meeks found himself in a very different spotlight. On Monday, the 33-year-old ex-con made his New York Fashion Week runway debut in the Phillip Plein show.
“Big thanks to [Philipp Plein] for believing in me...Last night was epic!” Meeks posted on Instagram Tuesday.
Meeks claimed fame in 2014 when his mugshot photo went viral after the Stockton Police Department in California posted it on Facebook. He was arrested on felony weapons charges and sentenced to more than two years in prison. He was previously convicted of grand theft in 2002.
That same photo caught the attention of Santa Monica-based Blaze Models and agent Gina Rodriquez, whose previous clients included "Octomom” Nadya Suleman and “Teen Mom” star Farrah Abraham. He then signed a modeling contract after he was released from in March 2016.
It's unclear what Meeks may do next, but after the show, he posted a photo of himself with the former editor-in-chief of "Vogue Paris." “It was great meeting you and your team,” Meeks wrote to Roitfeld on Instagram. “I so look forward to seeing you soon.”
