Joy Villa was roasted for wearing a 'Make America Great Again' dress to the Grammys

UPDATE 12:05 p.m.:

Joy Villa's "Make America Great Again" dress is boosting her bottom line.

After she revealed the dress, her album "I Make the Static" jumped to the top of Amazon Music's charts and to #7 on iTunes, Fox News reports.

Of course the Grammys got political. But no one made a statement quite like Joy Villa.

The singer wore a dark blue dress with President Trump's slogan, "Make America Great Again," on the front, and Trump's name on the train.

Villa stressed the importance of freedom of expression on an Instagram post.

Critics took her up on that, most of them to bash the dress.

Some were funny. Some were just blunt.

Some were subtle.

Others argued she was just looking for attention.

But she did find at least one new fan.

Conservative supporters applauded her.

But critics thought that support was hypocritical.
