Sears and Kmart joined a list of retailers that have dropped Trump-branded products


Sears and Kmart have joined a list of retailers who've stopped selling Trump-branded products. 

The retailers' parent company said it dropped Trump Home furnishings to focus on more profitable items, USA Today reports. 

"As part of the company's initiative to optimize its online product assortment, we constantly refine that assortment to focus on our most profitable items," a spokesman for Sears Holdings told ABC News in a statement. 

"Amid that streamlining effort, 31 Trump Home items were among the items removed online this week. Products from the line are still offered online via third-party Marketplace vendors. Neither Sears nor Kmart carries the line in brick-and-mortar stores," the statement continued. 

The decision comes just a week after Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus announced they were dropping Ivanka Trump's collection of clothing and accessories. 

Nordstrom told ABC News it made the decision based on "the brand's performance" and was not trying to make any type of political statement. 

President Trump, however, quickly defended his daughter and her brand. 

"My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom," he tweeted Wednesday. "She's a great person -- always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!" 

White House press secretary Sean Spicer then defended Trump's tweet saying discontinuing Ivanka's products was a "direct attack on his (Trump's) policies and her name." 

Nordstrom responded saying that the decision was purely based on the product's performance. Neiman Marcus issued a similar statement last week saying, "Based on productivity we continuously assess whether our brands are carried in stores, on our website, or both."
