Trump denied knowing Putin and called Iran '#1 in terror' while attacking his 'haters'

President Trump attacked "haters" who have criticized his approach to Russian President Vladimir Putin in Tuesday morning tweets.

He took a dig at former President Obama's deal with Iran, which Trump called "#1 in terror."

It's not clear what metric he's using for that ranking. While Iran has recently tested a ballistic missile, no Iranian-born person has ever killed an American in a terrorist attack on U.S. soil, according to the Cato Institute

Here's Trump's full tweet. An earlier, quickly-deleted version had a small typo.

According to Cato Institute data, 19 people of Saudi Arabian origin have led to 2,369 deaths on U.S. soil. Six Iranian-born people have led to zero deaths.

Trump's reference to Putin likely refers to controversy over an interview with Fox News, where he dismissed Bill O'Reilly calling Putin a "killer," saying, "You think our country's so innocent?"

Trump has said at times that he has never met Putin, but also that it's an "asset" if Putin likes him. He's also said explicitly that he did have a relationship with Putin, Politifact reports.
