Sean Spicer changed his mind, saying Melissa McCarthy should 'dial back' on her impression

It's not quite the same as President Trump ripping into Alec Baldwin. But it's a change of pace.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Melissa McCarthy's impression of him on "Saturday Night Live" could be "dialed back," Extra reported.

Earlier, on "Fox & Friends," Spicer said McCarthy's impression was "funny" and "cute."

Spicer specifically targeted the moment where McCarthy appears to down a huge amount of gum. The Washington Post previously reported that Spicer "churns through" Orbit gum and swallows it whole. 

Alec has gone from funny to mean ... 'SNL' used to be really funny. There's a streak of meanness now that they've crossed over to mean.

Spicer also had a few words for the rest of SNL's political impressions, saying Baldwin's Trump impression was "mean."

Trump has repeatedly bashed the show, particularly Baldwin.

But in 2015, Trump called the show "great."
