How Trump’s travel ban reflects on America, as explained by people in Syria

I feel sorry that a decision like that was taken by an American president because it's a well-known country for their interest in the world peace.

In rebel-held Syria, President Trump's travel ban was met with a mix of frustration, indifference and sympathy for the American people. 

It was an unfair decision was taken by someone who claims that he is for peace in the world. I'm sure that American people are against the decision.

Upset with the new immigration restrictions, displaced Syrians Circa spoke with were careful to distinguish between the president's actions and the U.S. as a whole. 

He is now feeding terrorism and sectarianism, by making the differences between Muslims and Christians. This is very dangerous for the future.

The president's executive order bans Syrian refugees from entering the country indefinitely, and bars all other refugees for 120 days.  Speaking with the Christian Broadcast Network, Trump caused a stir when he said his administration will prioritize the admission of Christian refugees. 

Since the start of the Syrian civil war nearly six years ago, more than five million Syrians have fled their homes. More than 4.8 million Syrians live in five countries  -- Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt. The U.S., by comparison, has taken in fewer than 15,000 in that same time period. 

That disparity hasn't gone unnoticed. As one Syrian put it to Circa, "The U.S  didn’t support us from the beginning ... so his {Trump} decision won't change anything."
