Do you believe it? The Obama Administration agreed to take thousands of illegal immigrants from Australia. Why? I will study this dumb deal!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 2, 2017
President Trump on Wednesday slammed Obama's "dumb" refugee deal with Australia.
Trump also reportedly had a heated exchange with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull this week about the order, which directs the U.S. to accept refugees from Australia. In an interview, however, Turnbull said the conversation wasn't as fiery as some have made it seem.
"As far as the nature of the discussion, it was very frank and forthright," Turnbull said. "I stand up for Australia's interests. I make Australia's case as powerfully and as persuasively as I possibly can, wherever I am."
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) reportedly felt the need to step in and do damage control.
Trump's exchange with Australia is the latest to put the U.S. and one of its allies on shaky ground.
He recently had an interesting phone conversation with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto. The two have gone back and forth in recent months over who will (or won't) pay for Trump's proposed wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.
Then there was the most recent altercation between the White House and Iran over the country's missile tests.
