WATCH | New York City's bike-share program, Citi Bike, added an exciting new feature to its fleet this month. In partnership with Blaze Laserlights, the pilot program introduced laser projectors on 250 bikes. The lasers project a green bike image 20 feet ahead of the rider.
Using forward-projection technology and powered by pedaling, the system combines white light and a laser image to create a symbol. Blaze says its lights help riders with "blind spots, junctions and situations where you’re otherwise unseen."
Hearkening to Willy Wonka's golden ticket, lucky riders must find one of the 250 bikes.
The new safety campaign has generated excitement on social media.
Blaze's Laserlights are available for normal retail purchase. The company offers multiple compact options, powered by USB. Bike-friendly cities should expect to see an influx of floating green cycles as the tech trend takes off.
