A #ThankYouTrump Twitter rally backfired. It might be the new 'Thanks Obama.'

On Tuesday night, supporters of President Trump tried to flood Twitter with pro-Trump posts hashtagged #ThankYouTrump.

It did not go as planned. Many of the most-retweeted tweets were sarcastic or outright critical of Trump and his supporters instead.

It remains to be seen if "Thank you Trump" will take on the same universality of the sarcastic "Thanks, Obama" meme.

Some targeted Trump's gag orders on climate change.

Others targeted his supporters.

Some gave backhanded compliments to past presidents.

Granted, a few were sincere.
