Vermont state police have issued an arrest warrant for 29-year-old Jayveon Caballero on Monday for second-degree murder, making it the first murder case to occur in the state's capital of Montpelier in nearly a century. Caballero is wanted for reportedly killing 33-year-old Markus Austin early Sunday morning outside a bar.
Detectives discovered that it the altercation may have been prompted after Austin allegedly assaulted Caballero's 22-year-old girlfriend, Desiree Cary, according to police. Austin was found dead with at least one gunshot wound.

Investigators have received information that Caballero may have fled Vermont on Sunday.
During their investigation, police arrested Caballero's girlfriend as part of an ongoing drug sting by the Vermont Drug Task Force. She was charged with selling crack cocaine and jailed with a $10,000 bail. She is expected to return to court in April.
The suspect remains at large and it remains unknown if he's traveling in a vehicle.
