WATCH | Kevin Bacon and Kathryn Hahn discuss and celebrate female empowerment at the Sundance premiere of "I Love Dick" in Park City, Utah.
Circa's Kay Angrum reports. Video by Jason Zucker.
"I Love Dick," based on a 1997 novel by author Chris Kraus, is about a married couple, played by Kathryn Hahn and Griffin Dunne, in the intellectual community of Marfa, Texas, who become obsessed with a charismatic artist named Dick, played by Kevin Bacon.
The new Amazon Studios series, from "Transparent" director Jill Soloway, follows the couple's unraveling marriage and highlights the awakening of the female gaze.
I don't stop there and look around and go, wow look at all these women. I basically feel like it's a great, great fun process.
Girls, girls, girls
Kevin Bacon, who plays the mysterious artist caught at the center of an unusual love triangle, told Circa he wasn't really fazed by working with a predominantly female cast and crew. "When I go to work I don't really think about that," he said.
Why, yes! Kevin Bacon did have a chance to stop for bacon at Sundance.
I'm sure so many women have a Chris Kraus inside.
Kathryn Hahn, who plays the real-life Chris Kraus, told Circa she really identified with her character. "It's like the woman who says, 'No, I demand to be heard.' It's pretty powerful stuff."
Two days earlier, Hahn was out at the Women's March. "We're louder together for sure," she said.
