The new Star Wars movie will be called 'The Last Jedi'

The official title for Star Wars Episode VIII was announced Monday.

The movie will be called "The Last Jedi." It is written and directed by Rian Johnson, with J.J. Abrams as executive producer.

It will be released December 15, 2017.

Speculation began immediately as to who is "the last Jedi."

This is pretty much how we all felt.

Fans quickly jumped on the fact that "Jedi" is its own plural.

But the gut reaction of many is that this is bad news for Luke Skywalker.

Either way, fans seemed to agree the title was solid.
