A California restaurant allegedly offered a discount when a customer saw a rat

In our 14 years in Folsom, we have not experienced something like this before.

Seeing a rat in a restaurant can ruin your meal. But maybe a discount could help take the edge off.

That's what happened at Fat's Asia Bistro & Dim Sum Bar, according to our partner at WKRC. A receipt posted to Facebook showed a $30.95 discount with the subtitle "seen rat."

The original poster shared a picture of the receipt for a friend who isn't on Facebook, writing that her friend was disturbed when a rat ran around her feet. The friend then notified a server, but a manager never came to her table.

Kevin Fat, COO of the Fat Family Restaurant Group, said he believes his staff acted appropriately, and pest control services didn't find any rats. However, an inspector it was possible a rat could have made its way in.

The receipt was posted to Facebook by a person claiming to be posting for a friend who didn't have a Facebook account.

Kelly McCoy of the Sacramento County Environmental Management Department said there was no sign of an infestation, and Fat's had passed its most recent inspection. But she said recent wet weather could have forced a rat to seek shelter inside.

If you saw a rat in a restaurant, would a discount be enough for you?
