Starbucks has long been portrayed in the media as a comfortable home for political liberals. After all, the company's CEO Howard Schultz has long been a big Democratic supporter, throwing his weight behind Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in recent elections.
It also was one of the leaders in the corporate space in pushing a sustainability policy championed by environmentalists. And the company stirred some political waters with an advertisement last year.

But anti-Donald Trump protesters who invaded Washington for the inauguration Friday didn't show the company's coffee shop on the iconic K Street corridor much love.
They smashed windows at the shop, tossed over nearby newspaper boxes and eventually set fire to a limousine parked a little ways a way.
