Just as inauguration eve was wrapping up, anti-Trump protestors took to the D.C. streets to blockade the entrance to the so-called "Deploraball, "a black-tie event for some of Trump's closest supporters.

Protesters gathered outside 14th street and were met with tear gas and D.C. police in riot gear.

Signs read "No Nazi USA" and "No Alt Reich."

Bottles were being thrown and fights broke out.

According to the Washington Post, police deployed chemical spray around 9 p.m.--moments after the president-elect concluded his candlelight dinner speech nearby at Union Station.

Protestors burned "Make America Great Again" hats.

The ball's name originated from when Hillary Clinton referred to Trump supporters as a "basket of deplorables."
