In the midst of packing his bags to leave the Oval Office, President Obama has passed another milestone. His tweet following his Tuesday night farewell address ranked as his most popular post on the POTUS account.
As of Wednesday evening, the tweet was favorited more than one million times and retweeted more than 620,000.
Thank you for everything. My last ask is the same as my first. I'm asking you to believe—not in my ability to create change, but in yours.— President Obama (@POTUS44) January 11, 2017
He included a line from his speech in the tweet.
As with other high-level politicians, President Obama traditionally signs off with "-bo" if the tweet was written by him. In this case, the tweet didn't include his initials.
First Lady Michelle Obama signed off on a heartfelt tweet later in the evening.
