We feel as a community that that's just not representative of Broward County and how sorry we are and how bad we feel for their loss.
A Florida sheriff's deputy was suspended in connection with the leaked video of the Ft. Lauderdale airport shooting, our partner at CBS 12 reports.
Broward County Deputy Michael Dingman, 46, was suspended with pay on Tuesday. He's been a deputy for 21 years.
Broward County Mayor Barbara Sharief said as soon as the video was published, investigators digitally enhanced it, trying to find out who was holding their phone up to the screen that was playing the security footage. They found a reflection of a law enforcement uniform in the leaked video.
Sharief said she could not say which agency it was, but handed the investigation to the FBI.
GRAPHIC | TMZ posted the linked video on Sunday
Sharief said the leak will be prosecuted as a federal crime.
The suspected shooter, Esteban Santiago, appeared in court Monday. He will be held without bond and could face the death penalty if convicted.
