The 84-year old board game Monopoly is undergoing a makeover.
Toy company Hasbro has created an online portal where Internet users can vote on new tokens, either to replace the eight original pieces (the Scottie dog, top hat, car, thimble, boot, wheelbarrow, battleship and cat) entirely or to replace a few with more modern ones.
Voters can select among 64 options, including a hashtag, tortoise, rain boot, T-Rex, and rubber ducky.
This isn't the first time Hasbro has elicited the help of the public, according to CNBC. The makers of Monopoly held a "Save Your Token" vote to determine which piece would be replaced. Ultimately, the iron was booted to make way for a feline.
Though the game was conceived during the Great Depression, some pieces, like the thimble, top hat, race car, and boot, continue to survive the test of time.
The "Monopoly Token Madness Vote" remains open through Jan. 31. To vote, go here.
