Actress Lola Kirke made a statement...with her armpits.
While looking elegant in a Andrew Gn candy-pink gown at this year's Golden Globes, the 27-year-old star of Amazon's "Mozart in the Jungle" also chose to flaunt unshaven armpits.
Since Sunday's Hollywood event, Kirke has been subjected to death threats for her decision to go unshaven.
Yep, feminists are still disgusting as ever... https://t.co/FYImwYXC59— John Binder 👽 (@JxhnBinder) January 10, 2017
Not everyone, though, has applauded her personal hygiene choice.
Haters gonna hate
Kirke singled out the haters in an Instagram post.
The hairy story
The phenomena of going unshaved is widely-seen as a feminist statement. Kirke, an outspoken advocate for women's rights, admitted to not habitually shaving her armpits in previous interviews. She said that when the opportunity to play a hippy-like character in "Mozart in the Jungle" arose, she made an argument to the director saying the hair should stay. He ultimately agreed.

Following the death threats, women rushed to Kirke's defense, saying its a personal decision.
Taking a stand
And the hairy armpits weren't the only feminist move by Kirke. She also attracted the attention for a F*ck Paul Ryan pin that.
"Paul Ryan is talking about defunding Planned Parenthood. I think that, along with a number of other decisions that are being talked about being made by the new administration, is atrocious,” Kirke told ELLE. “As a person with a platform, no matter what size it is, I think it’s important to share your views. My body my choice, your body your choice.”
