Cars could soon communicate with one another and prevent auto collisions

Watch| At this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), held in Las Vegas, Nevada, an autonomous vehicle was introduced by Savari, a California-based company.

"If cars communicated wirelessly"

Savari showed an equipped vehicle that was able to recognize a person crossing dangerously into the path of a moving vehicle and alert the driver, affiliate KSNV reported. The technology works by communicating with other similarly equipped automobiles.

"Traffic collisions prevented"

The California-based company claims that if all cars could communicate with each other wirelessly, 80 percent of traffic collisions could be prevented. Savari envisions a day when this technology will be embedded into mobile devices, such as cell phones.
