WATCH | District Doughnuts in Washington, D.C., takes their doughnuts to uncharted sugary heights at their two locations in Georgetown and Barracks Row in Capitol Hill. Their main visual attraction is the Creme Brûlée doughnut -- a vanilla bean doughnut flame-torched to candied perfection.
District Doughnuts pastry chef Christine Schaefer studied at the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute’s Le Cordon Bleu program before meeting with Greg Menna and Juan Pablo Segura, two local entrepreneurs who wanted to bring a doughnut shop to their home town.
After trying Christine's signature Brown Butter doughnut, they were sold on the idea. They initially started crafting doughnuts out of the city's culinary incubator, Union Kitchen, before opening their first shop in Barracks Row.
