Uber expects to give 3 times as many New Year's Eve rides as last year

New Year's Eve is one of the busiest nights of the year for Uber, and 2017 is will be no different.

In  a blog post, the company says it expects to provide an estimated 15 million rides across the 450 cities in operates in -- three times more rides than last year.

What's the upfront?

If you're planning on taking Uber home Saturday night, be prepared to shell out some cash. But unlike previous years, riders will know how much a ride costs before they request it.

Uber introduced upfront prices in June, which means customers are told in advance how much a ride will cost.

Some riders on New Years Eve last year reported paying more than $200 for a ride.

The company says fares will likely be highest between midnight and 3 a.m.

The ride-sharing service also offered some tips:

  • 1. Know fares before you go
  • 2. Split the fare
  • 3. Confirm your driver
  • 4. Share your trip details
  • 5. Leave your keys, take your friends
