The 1994 Heisman Trophy winner shot himself in the head while intoxicated

According to an autopsy report on Thursday, 1994 Heisman Trophy winner Rashaan Salaam shot himself in the head after drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana on Dec. 5, reports USA Today

The report stated that Salaam "has a history of depression and recent life stressors."

Salaam had a BAC of .25, which is more than triple the legal limit for driving in Colorado.

Salaam's family declined to have him tested for chronic traumatic encephalopathy.

Colorado football players wore commemorative stickers in honor of Salaam.

Salaam was buried in Boulder, Colorado, on Dec. 9, not far from his alma mater, the University of Colorado.

Salaam was "found unresponsive by bystanders with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound outside of his girlfriend’s motor vehicle located in the parking lot of Eben G. Fine Park in Boulder, Colorado. A note was found at the scene.”
