On Monday, the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers played the Sacramento Kings. And this happened.
That's 76ers star Joel Embiid and Kings star DeMarcus Cousins giving each other friendly slaps on the butt. Keep in mind, there's a game of professional basketball happening around them.
Embiid has earned a reputation as a bit of a comedian. His entrance into the NBA was delayed by injuries, and the 76ers floundered under general manager Sam Hinkie, who repeatedly told fans to "trust the process." Embiid now hashtags most of his tweets #TrustTheProcess and his Twitter bio reads "PROCESSING......................."
Cousins wasn't done. He said Embiid could be the NBA's best big man -- if Cousins retired.
Twitter, of course, loved the butt slapping.
In some contexts, that could constitute a foul.
We really hope this catches on in the NBA. The Kings won 102-100, by the way.
Meanwhile, Embiid is quietly having a remarkable rookie season.
