Russia claims it found mass graves of torture victims in Aleppo after ousting rebels

Russia's Defense Ministry said on Monday that troops had found mass graves in Aleppo, with bodies showing signs of torture and mutilation. Dozens of bodies have been uncovered.

Human rights groups have recorded multiple examples of massacres and organized torture. No one side is innocent and there are multiple forces fighting in Syria. Torture has been carried out by the Syrian government, opposition forces and ISIS. 

Russia also reported booby traps and mines in the city, which they blamed on Syrian rebels.

Forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his most powerful ally, Russia, have flattened neighborhoods with airstrikes. The al-Assad government now controls the country's four major cities again.
