A 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Chile on Sunday, prompting an evacuation order as officials fear a tsunami.
The quake hit at 9:22 Eastern time near the southern tip of Chiloe Island. Chile's naval oceanographic service declared a preventative tsunami alert and began evacuations. There were no official reports of damage, though officials said some should be expected.
