Trump team says Carl Paladino's 'gorilla' remarks about Michelle Obama are 'reprehensible'

Trump's team has denounced controversial comments made by former Donald Trump campaign co-chair, Carl Paladino, about President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama.

Paladino said he hopes Barack Obama dies of mad cow disease and that Michelle Obama "returns to being a male" in Zimbabwe with "Maxie the gorilla," he told a weekly paper in Buffalo.

In response, Trump's team released this statement: "Carl's comments are absolutely reprehensible, and they serve no place in our public discourse."

Trump hasn't denounced the comments on Twitter, which has some people concerned.

Paladino's caused quite the stir on social media.

"Move quickly to condemn even if old friend."

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called the comments "racist, ugly and reprehensible."

Paladino has not denied ever saying the controversial comments.
