Ansley Rule from Amarillo, TX got exactly what she asked for from Santa this Christmas. Her father, Josh Rule, returned home from deployment in the Army just in time for the holiday.
“We had decided, whenever I found out that I was going to be able to come home for Christmas, that we were going to keep it a secret and try to surprise her at school like we did today,” said Rule.
I wanted my daddy back. I asked (Santa) for my daddy.
The Western Plateau Elementary School second grader was completely surprised during an assembly, just after she finished reading a story about how her dad inspired her.
Ansley had not seen her dad since last Christmas. Her mom, Breana, said it was tough keeping the secret from her daughter, but was thrilled they were able to pull off the surprise.
“It was all so difficult but very much worth it,” said Breana. “Keeping the secret, and being nervous, and all of this is kind of overwhelming, but worth it definitely.”
It's an unbelievable feeling. People go their whole lives and don't have feelings that I feel right now so it's amazing.
The Rule family plans to spend the time they have relaxing and enjoying the holiday together before Rule heads back to work in the new year.
