Saleh reacted to the incident in a series of videos posted to Twitter.
He insisted this encounter was not staged in any way and was visibly upset.
"They made us feel like f--king terrorists," Saleh said in a phone call.
He said Delta officials adopted a different tone of voice when his camera started recording.
Saleh and his friend Slim Albaher went through security again after police arrived.
UPDATE: were now on another flight with a different airline heading to NYC after being checked for 30 minutes. We land 5:50pm in NYC— Adam Saleh (@omgAdamSaleh) December 21, 2016
Ultimately, he was able to get another flight.
Delta responded in a statement:
"Two customers were removed from this flight and later rebooked after a disturbance in the cabin resulted in more than 20 customers expressing their discomfort.
"We're conducting a full review to understand what transpired. We are taking allegations of discrimination very seriously; our culture requires treating others with respect."
#BoycottDelta started trending on Twitter shortly afterward.
Many saw a double-standard at play.
Supporters suspected Saleh was targeted for his beard.
