After securing his Electoral College victory on Monday, President-elect Donald Trump took to Twitter to bash a Clinton.
But unlike most of this past year, he targeted Bill, not Hillary.
The former president criticized Trump in an interview with the Bedford and Pound Ridge Record-Review, a local weekly paper. Clinton said Trump "doesn't know much" but knows "how to get angry white men to vote for him." CNN posted quotes from the interview, which was not posted online.
Bill Clinton stated that I called him after the election. Wrong, he called me (with a very nice congratulations). He "doesn't know much" ...— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 20, 2016
Trump retaliated by bashing the Clintons' campaign strategy.
especially how to get people, even with an unlimited budget, out to vote in the vital swing states ( and more). They focused on wrong states— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 20, 2016
It took two tweets for him to fully dissect the Clintons' failures.
We did it! Thank you to all of my great supporters, we just officially won the election (despite all of the distorted and inaccurate media).— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 19, 2016
On Monday, Trump celebrated his victory "despite all of the distorted and inaccurate media."
The Bill Clinton interview was expansive. Here's what else was discussed:
- "James Comey cost her the election," Bill said, bemoaning that Hillary had a seven-point lead before Comey revealed the investigation into her private server was being reopened
- On Russian hacking: "You would have to have a single-digit IQ not to recognize what was going on."
- Trump was very friendly when calling Hillary after the election; Bill said he acted "like it was 15 years ago" when Trump and the Clintons were friends.
