Desperate Aleppo orphans sent a video message for the world: 'This might be the last day'

WATCH  | A group of children at an underground orphanage in eastern Aleppo have put out a heartbreaking video message. 

We hope that you will evacuate us rom here so that we can live in peace like the rest of the world.

The fate of these orphans is unknown. Circa's calls to the director of the Moumayazoun Orphanage went unreturned Thursday. 

An operation to evacuate the the last rebel bastion in Aleppo is now underway after a last-minute ceasefire was reached.

Syrian state TV broadcast video of ambulances and buses leaving the city. The International Red Cross says it's evacuated as many as 1,000 civilians, including 300 children. 

What is happening today is the writing of a history written by every Syrian citizen.

Earlier this week, government forces, backed by their Russian allies,  took control of eastern Aleppo,  ending years of fighting and marking a major victory for the regime. 

Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad praised the "liberation" of Aleppo in a video message.

The evacuation of rebel fighters and their families was supposed to take place Wednesday, but was stalled when a ceasefire reached Tuesday fell through.
