Reports say millions signed for Obamacare for 2017 ahead of the December 15 deadline.

Surge in sign-ups

The Department of Health and Human Services says just over four million people have enrolled for Obamacare for next year through Healthcare.gov, as of December 10.

That's an increase of more than 250,000 from last year.

More than 700,000 people signed up for Obamacare just this week.

Americans who need their health insurance coverage to start on Jan. 1, 2017 must sign up by today.

Republicans, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, have spoken out against Obamacare.

Repeal and replace

President-elect Donald Trump and other members of the Republican Party have vowed to repeal Obamacare as early as next month.

"Obamacare is a disaster. We must REPEAL & REPLACE," Trump tweeted in October.

The Obama Administration created the hashtag #CoverageMatters as a platform for enrollees to share how they've benefited from coverage, and encourage others to sign up as soon as possible.

"#CoverageMatters to me b/c I need shots of vitamins"

"The ACA has made getting health insurance a possibility for me a women with #hemophilia
