The $12.9 billion warship, the first of the Navy's next generation of aircraft carriers, is in the final stages of construction after cost overruns and a delay of more than one year. People online are signing a petition to name a Navy ship the 'USS The Deplorables'

We here in the good ol' U.S. of A. generally stick to naming Navy vessels after past presidents, or war heroes, or cities and states.

But a new petition on the White House website is asking the government to consider naming the next Navy vessel the "USS The Deplorables" in order to honor those who "rose up to defend America and The Constitution from the globalists."

The petition needs to reach 100,000 signatures in about two weeks for the White House to respond.

Unfortunately for those who hope to honor the "Deplorables," the petition has only just hit about 6,000 signatures. So it could be a while before we see the name emblazoned across the hull of a Navy destroyer.

News of the petition has circulated online.

And some sections of social media have fully supported the petition.
