The West Virginia woman who called Michelle Obama an 'ape in heels' got her job back

In November, a Facebook post calling Michelle Obama an "ape in heels" led to the resignation of a West Virginia mayor.

On December 23, the woman who posted that insult will get her job back, the Charleston Gazette-Mail reports. Pamela Taylor runs the Clay County Development Corporation and was put on leave after writing the post.

The exact words were : "It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House. I'm tired of seeing an ape in heels."

200,000 signatures on petition

West Virginia's commissioner of the Bureau of Senior Services, Robert Roswall, said the agency could risk state and federal funds (about $1.8 million total) if it continued to allow discrimination.

The organization assists senior citizens and low-income residents.

A petition calling for Taylor's firing has received nearly 200,000 signatures.

Civil rights advocates were outraged.

Some wanted a more permanent suspension.

Should Pamela Taylor be fired for insulting Michelle Obama?
