We almost had to go through another #Deflategate, but the NFL quashed it fast


Everyone, breathe a collective sigh of relief. At least 2016 didn't give us ANOTHER Deflategate.

On Sunday, the New York Giants reported to the NFL that the Pittsburgh Steelers had used under-inflated balls in last week's game, USA Today reports. But an NFL spokesman refuted the complaint, saying all proper procedures had been followed. 

The Giants also did not submit a formal complaint, so we're all saved from another months-long legal battle over deflated footballs. 

Here's NFL spokesman's Brian McCarthy's explanation.

But some feared this wasn't the end.

For the brief moment that Deflategate 2.0 existed, nobody was happy about it.

But some pointed out some strange inconsistencies.
