Carl Bernstein, the investigative journalist who broke the Watergate scandal that prompted former President Richard Nixon to resign, said Donald Trump's habit of stretching the truth is worse than Nixon's.
“Trump lives and thrives in a fact-free environment. No president, including Richard Nixon, has been so ignorant of fact and disdains fact in the way this president-elect does,” Berstein said in an interview on CNN.

Berstein added that "Richard Nixon was nothing, in terms of lying, compared to what we have seen from Donald Trump."
He also warned that there is a "growing sense of authoritarianism" from Trump and his team.
Berstein blasted Trump for continually defaulting to emotional arguments instead of fact-based ones and said he has shown a "pathological disdain for the truth" throughout the campaign.
Trump has not yet responded to Bernstein's comments.
