Patti Smith started her Nobel Prize performance over after forgetting Bob Dylan lyrics

0

WATCH | Saturday's Nobel Prize ceremony featured a performance of Bob Dylan songs, honoring the songwriter given the prize for literature. But Patti Smith, a legendary singer in her own right, had to start over after forgetting the lyrics.

"I'm sorry. I'm just so nervous," Smith said as the audience applauded encouragingly. She appeared to draw a blank again in the third verse but recovered, leaving the crowd teary-eyed.

Dylan was rather dodgy about accepting the award after it was announced, but addressed the controversy that arose in his acceptance speech, saying Shakespeare never considered if his work was "literature."

Smith's performance still wowed many viewers.

Some even called it "perfect."
