UPDATE 10:39 a.m. EST 12/8
Nordstrom has sold out of its rocks, CNN Money reports.
If you search the site for the stone, you will find no results. Nordstrom disabled comments on its stone after trolls complained that couldn't "turn the flippin thing on."
It's not clear how many people actually bought this. It's also clear that as a culture, we are all doomed.
We're kind of at a loss here.
Nordstrom is selling a rock in a leather pouch. For $85. Eighty-five dollars. (Or $65 for a smaller stone.) And it's categorized under..."home decor."
This isn't a hoax. Go check the store for yourself. The larger model (about 3.5 inches in diameter) even has a five-star review: "It is really everything it claims to be!", it reads. "Does everything a rock is suppose [sic] to do, even with the leather covering!", it continues.
This is a screenshot of the actual Nordstrom online store, showing what customers say about this item, which is, again, a literal rock in a leather pouch.
Nordstrom's statement to a BuzzFeed reporter is equally baffling.
Perhaps this is the new normal in 2016.
I should have bought the medium rock for only $20 more. That's what I get for being cheap, I guess. Any idiot can get a small leather wrapped rock.
Weirdly enough, there's a "medium" and "small" size, but not a large.
Nordstrom advertises the pouch has "vegetable-tanned leather" and that all pieces are unique.
