WATCH  | Sandy Hook Promise released a public service announcement warning parents to look for signs of possible gun violence.

Take the time to watch the whole video. We won't spoil it. Trust us.

When you don't know what to look for, it can be easy to miss signs of someone who is in crisis or planning violence.

The video was released Friday but already has more than 2.5 million views on YouTube and more than 1.6 million on Facebook.

Sandy Hook Promise is a nonprofit led by family members of victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012.

One sign isn't enough

The site warns that mass shootings and suicide often have warning signs, but also warn that one sign alone is not cause to fear a mass shooting.

"But when many connected or cumulative signs are observed over a period of time, it could mean that the person is heading down a pathway towards violence or self-harm," the site reads.

Some Twitter users attempted to promote the video without a political stance.

It seemed to have its desired effect on viewers.
