The sheriff investigating the death of former NFL running back Joe McKnight says that Ronald Gasser, the man who shot McKnight, did so from his vehicle, reports CBS News.
The sheriff clarified after rumors circulated that Gasser stood over McKnight while the 28-year-old apologized and then emptied bullets into his body.

Ronald Gasser, the 54-year-old man who shot former NFL running back Joe McKnight, was released from police custody without being formally charged, reports Sports Illustrated.
Joe McKnight, former running back for the New York Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs, was shot and killed in a reported road rage incident in Louisiana on Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.
McKnight, 28, was shot and killed in Terrytown, Louisiana. Meanwhile, Ronald Gasser, 54, remained at the scene and told authorities he shot McKnight.
He has not been arrested and the investigation is still ongoing.
