These wrestlers say it's not easy to tell your kids that getting beat up on TV is fun

WATCH  | Wrestlers Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels talk to Circa's Stephanie Abrams about how they balance family life with intense beatings in the ring, and share their other passions including comic books. Both say as wrestlers, they feel like real-life comic book heroes battling good and evil.

It took time for Daniels' kids to get comfortable watching their dad get beat up. "They would watch me wrestling someone on TV, but that person would also come into my house so they'd see that we were friends in real life," said Daniels.

I don't want my wife to worry that I may not be physically 100% coming out of it. That's what I signed up for but it's not what my wife signed up for.

Daniels is married with two children, 11 and 13 years old. Kazarian and his wife have a 4-year-old son. The Ring of Honor Wrestlers credit their wives' dedication for supporting their unconventional careers and say they don't share much about their upcoming matches.

The Addiction has been the “bad guy” team until Ladder War, the match that left them badly injured. They’re going into Ring of Honor’s Final Battle  this Friday, available on pay per view, as survivors and fan favorites.

The marquee says wrestling, but it's entertainment. It's show business.

Both wrestlers say the ring is purely about entertaining, but the beatings are intense and brutal. Many of their matches have resulted in hospital stays. "It's such a physical undertaking that there's an inherent danger every time you step through the ropes," says Daniels.

How do they stay so fit?  They follow a strict diet and workout routine. Staying healthy, they say, is the only way to "recuperate from the beatings that we take day in and day out."

The two wrestlers have lives outside of the ring, too -- Kazarian jams with his band VexTëmper, and Daniels writes comic books. Daniels' latest, a collaboration with AH YEAH COMICS, is on shelves now and features cartoon characters of himself and Frankie.
