Leah Remini's docu-series premiere about leaving Scientology did not hold back

Leah Remini, star of "The King of Queens" and "Old School," left the Church of Scientology in 2013.

On Tuesday night, she debuted the first episode of "Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath," in which she interviewed former members of the organization.

Scientology is notoriously hostile to people who leave its ranks, often forbidding other members from any contact with people critical of group -- even family members.

You're not gonna continue to lie to people and abuse people and take their money and their lives.

Remini insists the organization is an abusive scam.

In her show, former members claim leaders committed statutory rape and physical abuse against lower-ranking members. Members were told the justice system is "corrupt" and Scientology should handle all internal disputes.

In a tweet after the show's debut, Remini paid tribute to an ex-Scientologist's mother.

The organization allegedly spent money on Twitter ads as the show aired.

Other celebrities praised Remini for speaking out against Scientology.

Some viewers had no idea of the organization's reputation.

Remini said prominent Scientologist Tom Cruise tried to silence her reports.
