The best players from all over the world are now making more money than ever. Payouts from tournaments in 2016 are much higher than they were several years ago. How much can gamers earn exactly? Here are the players with the highest earnings this year for the most popular games:

Game: Heroes of the Storm

All 5 members earned $101,600 in 2016.

They won third place at the Fall Championship, the biggest tournament of the year. First place would have awarded them $60,000 a piece.

There is still one more major tournament in China in December.


Byun "Byun" Hyun Woo

Game: StarCraft II

Earnings: $281,523 in 2016

He won World Championship Series on November 5, which offered a $200,000 prize.


Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo

Game: Counter Strike: Global Offensive

Earnings: $343,494 in 2016


Lee "Faker" Sang Hyeok

Game: League of Legends (LoL)

Earnings: $417,143 from 2016

Widely considered the best LoL player in the world, Faker has reached celebrity status in South Korea despite only having played professionally for 4 years. Him and his team just won the LoL World Championship for the 3rd time in a row, the first time in the history of the game.


Li "iceice" Peng

Game: Dota 2

Earnings: $1,939,979 from 2016

His team each earned $1,827,800 at "The International 2016," the most for any tournament.

Honorable mention: Saahil "UNiVeRsE" Arora

Game: Dota 2

He has collected the most career prize money in all of eSports history, with a grand lifetime total of $2,629,645.
