Someone renamed Trump Tower 'Dump Tower' in Google Maps

Somehow, Trump Tower in New York City was renamed "Dump Tower" in Google Maps on Saturday.

The building has doubled as the headquarters for President-elect Donald Trump's election transition team.

The earliest screengrabs showing the new, less flattering name surfaced on Twitter Saturday afternoon. The name was later changed back to Trump Tower. A Google spokesperson told The Associated Press that user contributions are often helpful for Google Maps, but they sometimes backfire.

Here's the proof.

Some were amused.

Many anticipated public outcry from the president-elect.

Some found the name inaccurate, if amusing.

Others thought it was a sign of Google showing bias.

At least one user called it an abuse of power.

Pro-Trump groups were not pleased.

Others obliquely referenced #BoycottHamilton.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
