Ron Glass, an actor famous for his roles in television shows such as "Barney Miller and "Firefly," has passed away at the age of 71, reports Variety.
The actor's representative confirmed his death, but did not reveal how or where the actor passed away.
Glass began his career in episodes of "Sanford and Son," "Hawaii Five-O," and "All in the Family" in the early '70s.
In 1975, Glass found his breakout role in "Barney Miller." His character, Ron Harris, was an intellectual bent on becoming a writer. Glass also starred in 18 episodes of the remake of the "The Odd Couple" entitled "The New Odd Couple."
However, younger audiences probably remember Glass best as a character in Joss Whedon's ill-fated but much loved "Firefly."
Firefly star Nathan Fillion expressed his sorrow over Harris's death on social media.
And many fans online have followed suit.
